From a letter written by the recipient of a High Country Caregiver Foundation respite voucher

“There are no words that I can adequately express just how thankful I am that you were there for me when I desperately needed relief from round-the-clock caring for my mother. The world generally focuses on taking care of the patient so, understandably, I was not clear about how the High Country Caregiver Foundation was going to be of help to me.

“Even though I’m a former R.N. caring for one’s own family, in one’s own home, 24 hours a day was becoming overwhelming for me. There were times when I just wanted to go lock myself in my car to get away from the situation for a few minutes. When members of the HCCF board first explained the small $500 grant voucher to me, it souned like something just to good to be true.”
